She was specifically recognized for promoting positive environmental and economic outcomes through sustainable management of Washington's freshwater resources through innovative water supply solutions for communities, farms, and fish.
The Washington AWRA award comes with a $500 contribution to a water related non-profit of the recipient's choice. Maia has chosen Salmon Defense to receive the donation. Salmon Defense is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to unite people and communities to protect water and restore salmon habitat in Washington for future generations.
