Maia D. Bellon Recipient of the Washington AWRA 2020 Outstanding Water Resources Professional Award

Maia D. Bellon was named Outstanding Water Resources Professional at the 2020 Annual Conference of the Washington Section of the American Water Resources Association. Maia was selected for this prestigious honor by the Washington AWRA for her significant and sustained commitment to the protection and wise management of the state's water resources throughout her 25 year career. She was specifically recognized for promoting positive environmental and economic outcomes through sustainable management of Washington's freshwater resources through innovative water supply solutions for communities, farms, and fish.

The Washington AWRA award comes with a $500 contribution to a water related non-profit of the recipient's choice. Maia has chosen Salmon Defense to receive the donation. Salmon Defense is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to unite people and communities to protect water and restore salmon habitat in Washington for future generations.

Washington AWRA is a nonprofit organization involved in advancing water resources management and provides cutting edge forums in Washington State and the Pacific Northwest region. The organization seeks to serve the public interest by supporting education and informational exchanges on water resources issues inclusive of professionals and students from all disciplines and interested members of the public. Washington AWRA recognizes excellence in water resource management, education, and research.
